SIPRI 2011 Yearbook «Armaments, Disarmament and International Security» (Russian edition) and of the Special Attachment by IMEMO RAN was held

 The presentation of the SIPRI 2011 Yearbook «Armaments, Disarmament and International Security» (Russian edition) and of the Special Attachment by IMEMO RAN was held. The two editions, prepared by IMEMO RAN, were presented. At the event there were discussed the most acute issues of providing international and national security, of the present stage of arms limitations and reductions.

The Council for Science and Education

Alexander A. Dynkin, the Member of the Academy of Sciences, attended a meeting of the Council for Science and Education. The discussion focused in the measures to improve the scientific activities, in particular the increase in efficiency of the grant system to support research projects, budget financing of research and development within the government task, the use of the Endowment Fund, as well as the legal support of the new mechanisms for research funding.

Alexander A. Dynkin, Member of the Academy of Sciences, attended a meeting of the Commission on the development strategy of the fuel and energy sector and environmental safety. The following subjects were being discussed: the draft of the Doctrine of energy security; the current trends in production, processing and marketing of natural gas; the prospects of cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the field of electrical energy industry.

Presentation of first results of the research project «Monitoring of Mutual Investments in the CIS» was held by IMEMO and Eurasian Development Bank in RIA NOVOSTI. Team leader of the project, corresponding member of RAS and the head of Center for European Studies of IMEMO Alexey Kuznetsov and the head of Center for Integration Studies of Eurasian Development Bank Evgeny Vinokurov held main reports. The whole report of IMEMO’s team was published by Eurasian Development Bank.

Alexander A. Dynkin, Academician, attended the first meeting of the Presidential Commission on the Development Strategy of Fuel and Energy and Environmental Security. Vladimir V. Putin chaired the meeting. The priorities of the Commission were the subject for discussion.

The recent conference was titled «Perspectives of China’s participation in nuclear arms limitations»

IMEMO RAN held the tenth conference (the second in 2012) of the IMEMO-NTI joint project on the problems and dilemmas of nuclear disarmament. The recent conference was titled «Perspectives of China’s participation in nuclear arms limitations». In the course of discussion a wide range of issues related to involving China in strategic offensive arms limitation and reduction were raised.
