Forum on the role of women in the work of the think tanks in states and regions of the world

The online forum, dedicated to the role of women in the work of the think tanks in states and regions of the world, was held on the platform of the University of Pennsylvania (the USA). The event was held under the auspices and on the initiative of the “Think Tanks and Civil Society Program”.

The Program Committee included representatives of more than 130 expert and analytical centers, including the IMEMO. Member of the Program Committee Corresponding Member of the RAS Irina Semenenko and Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute Cand. of Science (Politics) Maria Khorolskaya took part in the work of the Forum.

The challenges, which women working in think tanks face, were discussed at the five thematic sessions. In order to support the participation of women and the strengthening of their contribution to the analytic work of think tanks, there were put forward some practical suggestions. In particular, the participants pointed out the importance of networking and sharing the best practices, the need of the younger generation of women to be provided with targeted professional support by the successful women leaders, the fundamental importance of promoting equal opportunities as an indicator of the success of a think tank, and the need to change the corporate culture in order to achieve the greater openness.
