Meeting of the Scientific and Theoretical Seminar of Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Political Studies

On January 31, 2025 at 14:00 in the IMEMO conference hall a meeting of the Scientific and Theoretical Seminar of Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Political Studies was held.

The meeting is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sergey Petrovich PEREGUDOV, Dr. of Science (History), Professor, Chief Research Fellow of IMEMO, Maestro of Russian political science, lead researcher of the political landscape of modern Great Britain.

Topic of the meeting: Country Studies in the Context of Analyzing Contemporary Social Development: Priorities and Prospects of Russian British Studies.

Questions for discussion (in roundtable format):

  • Country studies in the context of ongoing systemic transformations of the information field and structure of the modern world order.
  • The role of country studies in conceptualizing the problems of modern social development and forming the corresponding research agenda.
  • Comprehension of national development models and alternative theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of countries and regions of the modern world: the British “case”.
  • The influence of the contemporary political agenda on the formation of priorities in the study of the history of Great Britain.
  • Subjective dimension of country studies: the British experience.
