On May 14, 2025, a Round table meeting “Relevance of the Study of Transforming Identities: Theoretical and Applied Aspects” was held at the Russian-Armenian University (RAU) in Yerevan. The meeting was organized by the Department of Political Science Named After Karlen Mirumyan of the Institute of International Relations and Sociopolitical Sciences of the RAU within the framework of the scientific project ¹ 24SSAH-5F032 “Transforming Identities as a Problem of Political Science Research (on the Example of the South Caucasus States)”, implemented with the support of the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.
The event was devoted to analyzing the dynamics of identity in the context of global, regional and internal challenges. The participants discussed a wide range of issues – from theoretical approaches to the study of identity to specific political practices in post-Soviet countries. Special attention was paid to methodological aspects of the transformation of identities and analyzing the role of the state in the context of identity politics. The key speaker was Irina Semenenko, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of IMEMO, scientific advisor of the project.
On May 15, Irina Semenenko gave a lecture “Values and Identities in World Politics” for RAU professors and students and answered questions from the audience following the presentation.
