Key points of the article – the emerging economic strategy of the Trump administration. Especial attention is paid to the possible consequences for the world economy of the proclaimed by Trump "rebalancing" foreign economic relations in favor of the United States. It is pointed out, that the most provocative U.S. initiatives (sole dominance in the sphere of foreign trade, radicalization of the trade policy and isolationism vs. globalization) may be dangerous to the international trading system. Fortunately, Trump`s actions, in contrast to his pre-election public statements, contain no immediate calls that could cause a trade war. Moreover, some of his administration`s plans in reforming the American economy and its foreign economic relations, like protection of American manufacturers’ and exporters’ interests and orientation on national priorities, may prove to be worth a thorough study. His idea of moving from multilateral to bilateral cooperation, though not acceptable to all countries, also needs more careful consideration. The success of Trump’s reform may open new possibilities for U.S.–Russia economic cooperation.
