Meeting with scholars from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations

On October 22, 2024, IMEMO hosted a Roundtable with the participation of a delegation from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR).

The Chinese delegation was headed by Vice-President of CICIR Fu Xiaoqiang. The Roundtable was attended by Li Yan, Executive Director of the Institute of World Political Studies of CICIR, Chen Yu, Deputy Director of the Institute of Eurasian Studies of CICIR, Li Jingya, Assistant Professor of the Institute of Eurasian Studies of CICIR, and Gong Xiaohao, Assistant Research Professor of the Institute of International Security Studies of CICIR.

From the Russian side, the discussion was attended by IMEMO researchers Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. of Science (History) Alexander Lomanov, Cand. of Science (Politics) Victoria Zhuravleva,  Cand. of Science (Economics) Sergey Lukonin, Research Fellow Dmitry Stefanovich, Cand. of Science (Economics) Leonid Gamza, Junior Research Fellow Nikolay Nikolaev, Senior Research Assistant A. Yakovlev.

The main topics of the Roundtable were the upcoming US presidential election, the situation in Ukraine, and changes in Russia's nuclear doctrine. IMEMO and CICIR scientists paid attention to the prospects of multilateral cooperation within the BRICS framework, problems of international security system in the Asia-Pacific region, and current issues of the development of the Chinese economy.
