On May 29, 2024, a meeting with the delegation of the Chinese Academy of International Problems (CIIS) was held at IMEMO. The Chinese side was represented by CIIS President Mrs. Chen Bo, Director of CIIS Department for Eurasian-Central Asian Studies Li Ziguo, Deputy Director of CIIS Department for Eurasian-Central Asian Studies Han Lu and others.

On the Russian side, the meeting was attended by Sergey Afontsev, Acting Deputy Director for Scientific Work of IMEMO, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Lomanov, Acting Deputy Director for Scientific Work of IMEMO, Dr. of Science (History), Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Victoria Zhuravleva, Head of the Center for North American Studies, Cand. of Science (Politics), and Sergey Lukonin, Head of the Sector of Economy and Politics of China, Cand. of Science (Economics).

During the meeting, the parties discussed and exchanged views on the current geopolitical situation, the challenges and prospects of multilateral cooperation within the BRICS group, the achievements and future development of Russian-Chinese relations, as well as the main trends in the development of the global and Russian economy.
