All-Russian Scientific and Practical Congress Youth of Modern Russia Value Priorities and Civil Identity


On May 16-17, 2024, the Sholom Aleichem Priamursky State University (PSU) (Birobidzhan, Jewish Autonomous Region) is hosting the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Congress “Youth of Modern Russia – Value Priorities and Civil Identity”.

At Sholom Aleichem Priamursky State University was created a laboratory of value-semantic competencies, its activities are aimed at the formation of civil and regional identity of Far Eastern youth. Congress participants shared theoretical knowledge and exchanged practical experience in the formation of civil identity of Russian youth.

At the session “Constructing Civil and Regional Identity”, the report “Civil Identity as a Resource for Territory Development” was delivered by Irina Semenenko, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Acting Deputy Director for Scientific Work of IMEMO, Dr. of Science (Politics). The report examined the key directions of identity policy and trends in the dynamics of civil identity of Russian youth, analyzed the practices of civil identity formation at the territorial level (including rural ones) and the role of scientific and teaching communities in these processes. Based on the results, the conclusion about civil identity as a socio-cultural basis of state sovereignty was substantiated. After the presentation, which took place in the online format, a brief question and answer session was held, discussing practices of involving young people in socially significant project and other creative activities, prospects and forms of promoting the value of humanitarian knowledge, and the possibility of combining the priorities of civil, territorial and ethnic identities.
