11The All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation “Black Sea Cooperation – 2021” was held on the platform of the Sevastopol State University on October 21-22, 2021.
Lead Researcher for the Section for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of the IMEMO Cand of Science (History) Dmitry Malyshev made a report “Political and legal aspects of the development of the Azov-Black Sea region and the strategy of Russia” at the Session 1 “The trends in the formation of a new system of international relations and the great powers competition”.
In the report there were highlighted the main historical stages of the inclusion of the Azov-Black Sea region into Russia; the legal framework, which regulated the relations between Russia and Ukraine in the region until the year 2014; the situation, which has been taking place in the region since 2014 and, the most important, since the reunification of Crimea with Russia. Particular attention was paid to the present stage of the implementation of the "Montreux Convention" – one the legal documents, which regulates the possibility of both leaving and entering the water area of the Black Sea.
