On November 5, 2025, Anna Velikaya, Senior Researcher of the Group on Peace and Conflict Studies of the Department of International Political Problems of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics), took part in Astana–Moscow Video Bridge at Sputnik Kazakhstan International Multimedia Press Center on the topic: "US-Central Asia Summit: what Kazakhstan Can Expect".

In her speech, she noted the growing interest of the US in the “C5+1” format, established ten years ago. While Trump did not express special interest in the five "camps" during his first presidency, then due to his stated intention to return the Afghan airbase in Bagram, the Americans will increase their presence there. The region is also important to them in light of the growing US confrontation with Russia and China.
