The Spring-Summer Issue of the IMEMO journal “Pathways to Peace and Security”2019, ¹ 1(56) – is out of print. The main focus of this issue is on various aspects of ongoing crises and armed conflicts in Africa, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East, including political economy of the conflict in the Central African Republic, the crisis in Venezuela, the controversy around the North Irish border in the context of Brexit, and the French policy on the Syrian problem. A range of security issues are explored through the lens of International Law, such as the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (and how it affects Russia), international protection of the rights of forcibly displaced people in armed conflicts, and the problem of human rights in intergovernmental relations. Some pressing issues of arms control agenda in the Russia-U.S. and the Middle Eastern contexts are also addressed.
