The V All-Russian scientific and practical conference “The positive experience of the regulation of the ethno-social and ethno-cultural processes in the regions of the Russian Federation” was held at the Marjani Institute of History of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences in Kazan on April 28-29, 2022.

It was dedicated to the commemoration of the outstanding ethno sociologist Leokadiya M. Drobizheva (1933-2021), who was at the beginnings of this field in Russian science.

L. M. Drobizheva developed the theoretical approaches and the methodology for studying the individual level within the inter-ethnic relations, the processed of the development of the ethnic identity and the practice of maintaining of consent in Russian society.

The outcomes of the studies of ethno-social and ethno-cultural processes in the regions of the Russian Federation and in the international political context were presented at the conference.

Deputy Director of the IMEMO, Corresponding Member of the RAS Irina Semenenko made a report on the experience of mapping of the ethno-political conflicts and on its potential for social prognostics at a plenary session. In the report she presented the typology of the ethno-political conflicts developed by the IMEMO, the methodology of its analysis and the visualized outcomes on the global map in the framework of the Ethno-political Conflict Monitor. The author paid particular attention to the practice of the conflict regulation on the basis of the implementation of the identity policy priorities in the deeply divided societies. It was pointed out that it’s necessary to take into account the psychological and the emotional components of divisions, the need for further development of the methodology for analyzing the subjective factors of conflict political dynamics, which is important for predicting changes in the structure of the world order, for promoting practices of maintaining interethnic harmony based on the development of a culture of dialogue in modern divided societies.
