US-Russian Round Table on the Prevention of Militarization of Outer Space

On 12-13 December 2018, IMEMO held a US-Russian round table on preventing the militarization of outer space. The round table was conducted as part of collaboration between the Committees of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the US National Academy of Sciences on the US-Russia Dialogue on Full-Scope Strategic Stability project. The IMEMO Center for International Security from the Russian side co-organized the event.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues related to security and threats in outer space and to non-militarization of space.

Vladimir Dvorkin, Major General (ret), Professor, IMEMO Chief Researcher, and Ambassador Linton Brooks, Senior Advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (USA), co-chaired and moderated the sessions.

On February 5, 2025, a Roundtable on the topic “Early Presidential Elections in Abkhazia: Dynamics of the Development of the Situation” was held at the Institute of CIS countries. The event was attended by Alexander Krylov where he spoke about the upcoming elections in Abkhazia in the context of the prospects of relations with Russia.
