On March 20, 2024, Alexander Lomanov, Acting Deputy Director of IMEMO, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. of Science (History), spoke at panel session 4 "Democracy in a Multipolar World and Global Governance" at the Third International Forum "Democracy: The Shared Human Values of Humanity" in Beijing with a report "Democracy and Global Governance: a Global South Perspective".

Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered the keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the conference. Gao Xiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Shen Haixiong, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, President of China Media Group, Du Zhanyuan, Head of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, addressed the participants of the Forum. Former Prime Minister of Italy Massimo D'Alema and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece George Katrougalos made presentations at the plenary session, while former Prime Minister of Thailand Aphisit Vejjajiva and former Prime Minister of Egypt Essam Sharaf made presentations via video link.

In the afternoon the thematic panel sections "Democracy and Modernization of Governance", "Democracy in the Digital Age and Rule by Law", "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Democracy", "Democracy in a Multipolar World and Global Governance" were held.

At the final plenary session, Yu Yongquan, President of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, presented a report on the results of an international sociological survey on the perception of the practice of Chinese democracy and the development of modernization in 2023. Mo Jihong, Director of Law Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, spoke about the results of the work and plans of the Global Network of Democracy Research Institutes. 

The first International Forum "Democracy: The Shared Human Values of Humanity" was held in Beijing in December 2021 and the second one in March 2023.
