
On April 6, 2006, the presentation of the Strategic Study on Bioterrorism Report by the Moscow-Stockholm Panel on Biosecurity was held in IMEMO. The report provides recommendations on the basis of the joint IMEMO-SIIA (Swedish Institute of International Affairs) project carried out in 2005-2006. Among the participants in the Panel sessions were representatives of biological science and industry from Russia and other European countries. The Panel was engaged in a search for the ways to strengthen and expand cooperation of Russian biological complexes with those from other European states.
A welcoming speech was delivered by V.Baranovsky, Deputy Director of the IMEMO, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Science.
The meeting was addressed by members of the Panel: Dr. Ake Sellstrom, Director of the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI NBC); Jenifer Mackby, CSIS (Geneva Office); A.Pikayev, Head of the Disarmament and Conflict Management Department (IMEMO).
