The next issue of the journal "World Economy and International Relations" (No. 8, 2023) opens with the rubric "The World at the Beginning of the Millennium", touching upon various aspects of sustainable development. Thus, L. Khudyakova analyzes the problems of sustainable finance in modern conditions, and V. Loktionov devoted his paper to the study of sustainable energy issues.
The central place in the issue is occupied by the issues of development of individual countries and regions. For example, European issues are discussed in the article by N. Lapina on the peculiarities of the political process in France; N. Arbatova analyzes the policy of the Baltic States in the context of the strategic autonomy of the European Union; I. Kopytin examines the restructuring of the European gas market.
The rubric "China: Domestic and Foreign Policy" is represented by two articles: on China's national interests (E. Grachikov and Zhou Xiaoyu); and on Chinese views on the problem of protest activity in China and ways to solve it (V. Kashin, A. Pyatachkova, N. Potashev, A. Yankova). The article by Y. Golub and S. Shenin analyzes the ongoing discussion in the USA about transatlanticism in the context of the current globalization crisis.
The issue also contains articles on the prospects of democracy in the Muslim world (A. Malashenko, Y. Nisnevich), Turkey's policy in the Western Balkans (E. Arlyapova, E. Ponomareva). An actual topic - the role of the African continent in global politics - is covered in the materials of the discussion held at the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs.
