
On February 12, the first «Asian seminar» led by academician V.V. Mikheyev was held at IMEMO. Seminar topic: «North Korean nuclear problem».
Oleg Vladimirovich Davydov - Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (retired) spoke at the seminar.
In the speech of O.V. Davydov touched upon the problems of coexistence of the two economic and socio-political systems on the Korean peninsula, covered the prevailing views in the DPRK and the Republic of Korea on the prospects for Korean reunification, analyzed the development of nuclear and missile programs in North Korea.
In reply to questions from the audience, O.V. Davydov spoke on the differences in the development of North Korea's nuclear and missile programs under Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un governments in the DPRK, noted the link between the increasingly aggressive behavior of North Korea and domestic political changes in the DPRK, and analyzed the problems in North Korea's bilateral relations with China, the United States and Russia.
