The second “Asian Workshop” on the topic “The power and the politics in modern China” chaired by Academician Vasiliy Mikheev was held at the IMEMO. 

At the seminar professor of the RAS and senior researcher of the Institute for Far Eastern Studies Alexander Lomanov made a report on the topic “The power and the politics in modern China”.

At the beginning of March 2018 the Session of the Chinese Parliament amended the country’s Constitution, abolishing the limit on the number of terms of office of the PRC Chairman. In the West it is increasingly said that the hope of China’s political liberalization after integration into the global economy has proved to be erroneous. What is behind these changes? What was the path of the Chinese policy from Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping to Xi Jinping? What are the prospects of its development?
