The 2nd issue for 2021 of the journal “Russia and New States of Eurasia”

The 2nd issue for 2021 of the journal “Russia and New States of Eurasia” has been published.

The issue opens with review of the IMEMO collective monograph “Political Processes in the Post-Soviet Space: New Trends and Old Problems” (ed. by E.G. Solovyev and G.I. Chufrin. Moscow, 2020).

Traditionally much attention is paid to Ukraine. The authors of the issue analyze the current trends in Kiev’s foreign policy, problems and prospects of nation-building in Ukraine, the results of development of the Ukrainian economy in 2020.

The International North–South Transportation Corridor and its role in Russia’s strategy in the Caspian region and in Eurasia as a whole have also become the object of study. The political situation in Moldova on the eve of parliamentary elections is analyzed.

The researchers also focus on the current political and economic problems of Central Asia: the main vectors of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, the mining and metallurgical complex of Kazakhstan, the activities of US grant foundations and non-governmental organizations in Central Asian countries, trade and economic cooperation of the countries of Central Asia with South Korea are considered.

Considerable attention is paid to the situation in Transcaucasia. The authors of the issue analyze the main stages of the post-Soviet history of the South Caucasus, religious situation in contemporary Azerbaijan and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Azerbaijan’s economy.
