The article “The three main outcomes of the presidential elections in France of the year 2022” by Head of the Section for Regional Issues and conflicts of the Department for European Political Studies of the IMEMO Cand. of Science (Politics) Pavel Timofeev was published on the website of the French-Russian think tank “Observo” on May 13, 2022.

Just like five years ago, May of the year 2022 marked the border between the end of the old and the beginning of a new political cycle in France. The presidential elections, held in two rounds of voting on April 10 and 24, finished the previous five-year-long term. The ups and downs of the pre-election struggle, which actually started in the fall of 2021 and included various events both on the right and on the left political wings of France, now are gradually fading into the past in order to become the subject of study for the future historians. But now and here let’s set a bit less comprehensive task and try to outline the key outcomes of the presidential elections of the year 2022. There only three major ones...
