The article “The space infrastructure of the first counterforce strike: the reality, the perception and the prospects” by Dmitry Stefanovich was published in the issue ¹5 of the journal “Russia in Global Affairs” for Spetember\October, 2020.

“Taking into account the advances in the field of the automated analysis of the large amounts of data, one can confidently talk about the probability of adjusting the orbits of the satellite imagery to ensure continuous monitoring of specified areas of the earth's surface over a long (although limited) period of time. By aggregating all the available information from all the suitable spacecraft, one can briefly get a "cast", but two additional factors must be taken into account. Firstly, the missile systems will not wait for enemy missiles to reach them, especially since long-range subsonic cruise missiles remain the basic type of the high-precision weapons before the advent of the mass “tactical” hypersonic systems. Sure, the modern kinds of missile weapons are "smart" enough and to a certain extent are capable of the additional reconnaissance of the targets (especially if we take into account the proliferation of  the loitering ammunition), but nevertheless. Secondly, and this is much more important, this kind of threat is recognized and considered not only and not so much in the political dimension. In order to stop it, there’re held both technical and operational developments, which will be discussed further. As a result, at least in the short-term period, we are expecting the development of the kinetic, the laser, the radio-electronic and other means of struggle in space and "against space" to be continued”.
