8The article “The proliferation of the high-precision long-range weapons: the strategic, the technical and the political dimensions” by Dmitry Stefanovich was published in the Vol. 1 (66) for the year 2021 of the journal “New Defense Order. Strategy”.
“The world is approaching the third decade of the XXI century in a state of a number of armed conflicts of the varying intensity, with the different levels of the involvement of the leading powers. At the same time, for both “cold” and “hot” conflicts, the high-precision long-range weapons begin to play an increasingly important role, albeit, fortunately, for the time being in exclusively “conventional” equipment, which is not a means of delivery of nuclear or other types of weapons of mass destruction. So let's try to systematize the situation in this area.
It seems appropriate to continue the search for regimes for limiting the WTO or at least for the transparency in this area, and not to be limited to certain kinds of weapons or their basing environment, although the narrowest categories are quite suitable as a "test ball".
Perhaps, at the first stage, we should consider the regional options to increase the "controllability" in this area by exchanging data on the number of the deployed weapons of the agreed range.”
