Being an energy power, Russia will inevitably face a number of challenges, if accelerates restructuring processes in the whole national economy due to the upcoming energy transition. On the other hand, the country has an opportunity to adapt the existing capabilities to the challenges of the future. For example, there are options for using the existing pipeline infrastructure to transport hydrogen. Taking into consideration the high ratio of power generation at hydroelectric power plants, gas-fired thermal power plants and nuclear power plants, it is possible to produce “yellow” and “blue” hydrogen with a low carbon footprint. The opportunities of hydroelectric power and tidal range technology are still far from being exhausted. Basically, Russia can provide any kind of demanded emergy.
The introduction of technologies, which are aimed at reducing carbon emissions, will require huge investments. At the same time, economists consider it to turn out to be profitable one day...
