Special Session "The Legacy of Immanuel Kant for Modern International Relations" in Kaliningrad

On April 23, 2024, within the framework of the International Kant Congress in Kaliningrad, the initiators of the "Baltic Platform" development – IMEMO, MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian federation, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University with the participation of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences – held a Special Scientific and Expert Session "The Legacy of Immanuel Kant for Modern International Relations".

During the event, participants examined a wide range of problems of the theory and practice of modern international relations and security through the prism of political and international legal thought of the outstanding philosopher. The focus is not only on the most acute problems of development of the modern political world order, global and regional security, but also on the situation in the Baltic-Arctic region, as well as issues of global socio-economic and political development.

The Special Session was attended by leading experts in the field of international politics from Russia, Finland, Germany, India and the Republic of Belarus. Among the Russian speakers are Alexander Dynkin, President of IMEMO, Feodor Voitolovsky, Director of IMEMO, Alexey Gromyko, Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Fedorov, Rector of Kant Baltic Federal University, as well as leading employees of IMEMO, Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences and MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian federation.

Foreign speakers – Director of the Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis (IDSA) Sujan Chinoy (India), Chairman of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Sunjoy Joshi (India), Associate Fellow of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) Tarja Cronberg (Finland), Associate Fellow of the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) Wolfgang Richter (Germany), Expert of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies (BISR) Svetlana Aleinikova, German documentary filmmaker and writer Ralph Niemeyer.
