RIAC and RANEPA Joint Conference “Migration to Russia from Far Abroad Countries: Status and Prospects”

On November 11, 2024, Gleb Makarevich, Junior Research Fellow of the Center of the Indo-Pacific Region of IMEMO, delivered a report “People with a Great Future: Peculiarities of Migration from South Asian Countries to Russia” at the RIAC and RANEPA Joint Conference “Migration to Russia from Far Abroad Countries: Status and Prospects”.

The speaker examined the peculiarities of migration flows from South Asia and assessed their possible impact on the Russian labour market. The report emphasized the special role of India as a source of educational migration to Russia, listed the key regions where Indian citizens stay, and pointed out the reasons for the insignificant impact of Indian migration on socio-economic processes in Russia.
