
On November 4-8, 2024, Novosibirsk hosted the annual event of the Gorchakov Fund – the Scientific and Educational program “School on Central Asia”. The main topic of the School was geoeconomics and geopolitics of transport corridors. Experts were leading government, public and scientific figures from Russia and Central Asian countries.
On November 5, Stanislav Pritchin, Head of the Sector for Central Asia of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History), spoke as an expert at the panel discussion “Key Trends in Central Asia – 2024” and took part in the discussion “Eurasian Transport Framework: what are the Points of Regional Development”. The events were held in the Novosibirsk Region government building.
On November 7, Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management hosted a panel discussion “ITC and the Caspian Sea”, where Azganush Migranyan, Lead Researcher of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO, Dr. of Science (Economics), acted as an expert, and Stanislav Pritchin acted as a moderator and expert. Later, a panel discussion “Foresight of Short-Term and Medium-Term Trends in the Development of the Caspian Sea Transport and Logistics Infrastructure” was held, where Stanislav Pritchin also acted as a moderator.
The School participants discussed key aspects of interaction between the countries of the region, the impact of transport infrastructure on economic development and geopolitical strategies, as well as opportunities for cooperation.
The main thematic areas of the School:
- The operation of various transport corridors: the Northern Eurasian Corridor, the TRACECA International Transport Corridor, the “North-South” ITC and others;
- The geopolitical role of ITC and shifts in the system of international relations;
- Policy and concepts, as well as their impact on new infrastructure projects in the region.
