5Staff-members of the IMEMO took part in the Second Political and Geographical Readings named after O.V. Vitkovsky, organized by the Department of Socio-Economic Geography of Foreign Countries of the Faculty of Geography of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Dr. Irina Prokhorenko, Cand. of Science (Economics) Ekaterina Romanova and Cand. of Science (Politics) Maria Khorolskaya took part in the Second Political and Geographical Readings named after O.V. Vitkovsky, organized by the Department of Socio-Economic Geography of Foreign Countries of the Faculty of Geography of the Lomonosov Moscow State University on March 26-27, 2021.
Irina Lvovna Prokhorenko opened a section with a report on the prospects for using the spatial approach in political researches.
Ekaterina Vladimirovna Romanova moderated the section “Following O.V. Vitkovsky: the political processes in and around Germany”, and also made a report on topical issues of German federalism, and its strengths and weaknesses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maria Vitalievna Khorolskaya highlighted the peculiarities of the electoral preferences of the population of the new federal states of Germany in her report. In conclusion she presented a forecast of the election results in the west and in the east of the country, and of the balance of power in the upcoming elections to the Bundestag in September 2021.
