Yevgeny M. Primakov, an outstanding scholar and statesman, former director of IMEMO, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, died aged 85. For his co-workers at IMEMO this loss is particularly hard – we were bereaved of our colleague, friend, the founder of one of the leading scientific schools, a Teacher.
Yevgeny M. Primakov was a unique person - a versatile professional of the highest category, with fundamental scientific knowledge in the global economy, international relations. He was a superb security analyst-practitioner, a brilliant journalist, politician, and the person of the state and historic proportions.
