A session of the International Discussion Platform “Baltic Platform” on the topic “Family, Children, Common Future. Traditional Values” was held at the Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University.

The organizers of the discussion platform were Novgorod State University, St. Petersburg State University, MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, IMEMO and the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The main focus of the platform session at Novgorod State University was on discussing the topic of erosion of traditional values: the erosion and destruction of the institution of marriage, the use of human rights as a tool to promote destructive ideologies, the spread and popularization around the world of ideas of “overvaluation” of certain groups of the population, the culture of “cancellation”, individualism and greed. 

The event included the work of the following sections: “Common World. Values Paradigm under Pressure”, ”Traditional Values are Unchangeable in a Changing World. Family, Children, Image of the Future”, “Sociocultural and Demographic Challenges for Modern Societies: New Priorities of Social Policy’.

“Baltic Platform” is an International Discussion Platform established in July 2023 by Russian scientists to discuss global issues of importance for the Baltic-Scandinavian region.
