293The Center for the Middle East Studies held the next Georgy Mirsky Middle East Seminar on the topic "Yemen in the Context of Regional Transformation in the Middle East".
The main speaker at the seminar was Sergey Serebrov, Cand. of Science (Economics), Senior Researcher of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is an authoritative Russian Oriental-Arab scholar and a recognized expert in history, as well as contemporary political, social, and cultural processes in Yemen. In his report, he presented the results of his own research and an analysis of the current situation in the country.
The co-rapporteurs was Dr. M. Al-Afifi, official representative of Yemen's Southern Transitional Council in Russia, who presented his comments and expert views on the situation. Also as co-rapporteur was employee of the Center for the Middle East Studies of IMEMO Nikolay Sukhov, Cand. of Science (History). He presented his views and analytical commentary on regional dynamics in the context of the Yemeni crisis.
Seminar participants got acquainted with the speakers' assessments and unique experiences, and participated in an expert discussion.
