On December 18, 2023 at 12:00 in the Academician Inozemtsev conference hall the regular meeting of the Inter-Institutional Seminar of the Center for Development and Modernization Studies of IMEMO “Modern Problems of Development" was held.

The theme of the seminar was "Modernization and Development Processes in the Context of International Tension".

The participants of the research team of the Center for Development and Modernization Studies discussed the results of the three-year work within the framework of the research project "The New Role of the Countries of the World's 'Periphery' in Global Politics and Economy", aimed at identifying the causes and factors of the dynamics of center-periphery relations, the peculiarities of the changing role of the countries of the East and the South, the issues of formation of a polycentric world, in the context of the sharp aggravation of the world situation after February 2022. A comprehensive discussion of the specifics of modernization and development processes in the countries of the South and East took place. 

The Seminar meeting was held in a roundtable format. Alexander Lomanov, Acting Deputy Director of IMEMO, Dr. of Science (History), Professor of Russian Academy of Sciences, made a closing speech. The presentations were followed by the final discussion.
