
On December 3, 2024, the Russian Foreign Trade Academy of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation held a Seminar “Strategic Contours of China's Development and Prospects for Russian-Chinese Economic Cooperation”.
Alexander Lomanov, Deputy Director of IMEMO, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke at the Seminar, covering the following topics:
- • Xi Jinping's economic ideas as directions that China follows in its economic development;
- • basic Chinese ideological concepts: “five ideas of development”, Chinese-type modernization, and new-quality productive forces;
- • subjectivity of foreign assessments of China and its economy.
The Seminar also touched upon such topics as: China's economic growth in recent years and forecasts of its development prospects taking into account risks and limitations; economic confrontation (“trade wars”) between China and the United States: its goals, industry effects and further development; exhaustion of extensive growth opportunities and use of backwardness advantages by China; economic relations of Russia with China: export and import sectors, dynamics of foreign trade between the countries and its development vector.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the management and staff of the Institute of International Economics and Finance of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, invited experts.
