Seminar "Russia and Europe: Can the Split Be Overcome?"

On December 22, 2025, the Discussion Forum "European Union in a Polycentric World" held the Seminar "Russia and Europe: Can the Split Be Overcome?".

Presentations were made by:

  • Vladimir Baranovsky, Academician, Head of Research of the Center for Situational Analysis of IMEMO;
  • Andrei Zagorski, Head of the Department for Disarmament and Conflict Resolution Studies of the Center for International Security of IMEMO;
  • Ivan Timofeev, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council.

The aim of the project "European Union in a Polycentric World", launched by the Department for European Political Studies of IMEMO in March 2023, is to discuss political processes of European integration and analyze the most urgent problems in relations between Russia and the European Union. The discussion forum is aimed at studying the role of the EU in the international system and its relations with major centers of power, as well as to explore changes in the political, economic, and social life of the European countries and search for opportunities of interaction between Russia and the EU in the foreseeable future.
