Seminar «Digital economy: Theory and Practice»

The seminar «Digital economy: Theory and Practice» took place in IMEMO on December 22, 2017. The reports were presented by:

Vladimir Rumjantsev, CEO at the Fund “Digital Platforms”;

Alexander Kondeev, deputy head of department of project activities at the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia;

Ivan Danilin, Head of the Department for Science and Technologies at IMEMO

The participants gave their views on what is digital economy, what are its theoretical grounds and what forms it is taking in the Russian reality. A special attention was paid to the platforms as a new manner of organizing economic activities. The participants discussed the regulation of digital sphere in Russia and limits of this regulation. Participants highlighted that digitalization has already become a part of the economic reality, but it contains many unclear fields, dangers and drawbacks. They discussed the issues of blurring state borders and growing jurisdictions competition; the interrelation between the real and digital economy; providing of personal data security in the era of digital economy and many other issues.
