
On June 10, 2024, IMEMO hosted the Russian-South Korean Roundtable "Changes in the International Order and the Geopolitical Situation in Northeast Asia: a View from Moscow and Seoul", which discussed the issues of strategic rivalry between the United States and China, the settlement of the Korean Peninsula problem, the main directions of diplomacy of Russia and South Korea, etc.
From the Russian side, presentations were made by:
- Alexander Fedorovsky, Dr. of Science (Economics), Head of the Group of the Asia-Pacific Region Problems of the of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies of IMEMO, (report "Russian-Korean Relations in the Context of the Growing Influence of Regional Institutions");
- Oleg Davydov, Senior Researcher of the Group of the Asia-Pacific Region Problems of the of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies of IMEMO, (report "The Problem of the Korean Settlement: a View from Moscow");
- Sergey Lukonin, Cand. of Science (Economics), Head of the Sector of Economy and Politics of China of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies of IMEMO, (report "Russian-Chinese Cooperation: Limitations and Prospects").
The speakers from the Korean side were:
- Suh Dong Joo, President of Korea Eurasian Policy Institute (report "Changes in the Northeast Asia Regional Order");
- Kim Seun Rae, Research Professor of Hanguk University of Foreign Studies (report "Middle Power Diplomacy");
- Eom Gu Ho, Director of the Asia-Pacific Center at Hanyang University (report "Main Directions of Yoon Suk Yeol's Diplomacy").
