On June 27, 2024, IMEMO hosted a Russian-Chinese seminar with the participation of researchers from IMEMO and the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (IWEP CASS).

Researchers from IMEMO and IWEP CASS discussed urgent issues of modern world development, including issues of global governance and the activities of international organizations, adaptation of national economies to sanctions challenges, stability of international production chains, regulation of the digital economy, stability and development of the Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions. Much attention was paid to the exchange of experience in analyzing and forecasting the situation in the world economy and international relations.
The history of IWEP CASS dates back to 1964, when the Institute of World Economy was established within the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The current academic profile of IWEP CASS, which combines research on the world economy and international politics, was formed in 1980 during the initial period of China's policy of reform and opening-up.
