6We kindly offer to your attention the new issue of the journal “Russia and the New States of Eurasia” ¹ III (LII), 2021.
The issue is opened with an article on the topic of Ukrain. It examines Kiev’s struggle to preserve the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory. The authors of the issue paid much attention to the current political events in the CIS countries. They analyzed the outcomes of the parliamentary elections in Moldova and Armenia, the activities of the US private grant foundations and NGOs in the states of South Caucasus. The researchers also focused their attention on the current problems of Central Asia. Two articles of the issue are dedicated to the impact of the Afghan crisis on the situation in the countries of this region. The prospects of the regional cooperation in Central Asia and to the analysis of the Chinese influence in Tajikistan. Considerable attention was paid to the Second Karabakh War and its consequences. Four articles of the issue are devoted to the study of various aspects of the armed conflict in 2020 in Nagorno-Karabakh. The authors analyzed the geopolitical consequences of the Second Karabakh War for the countries of the South Caucasus, the position of the United States and the EU in relation to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the prospects for normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, the prerequisites for Azerbaijan’s victory in Nagorno-Karabakh. The scientists also considered Turkey’s policy towards Ukraine and the political aspect of the Belarusian-Ukrainian economic relations.
