Dr. Veber dwelt on the major trends in and prospects for the development of that group of countries in the 21st century.

Presentation: Iranian Model of Modernization. – Dr. N. Mamedova, Head of Section of Iranian Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences.
In this paper particular emphasis was placed on the combination of Islamic socio-economic and political values with the theories and catch-up models worked out by the West.
