On December 20, 2023, the first seminar of the Center for Strategic Planning Studies "Forecasting and Management" was held in the Academician Inozemtsev large conference hall. The report "The Adventures of Neoliberalism" was delivered by Rostislav Kapelyushnikov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. of Science (Economics).

Modern interstate contradictions cause a restructuring of economic ties and the system of international relations, which is often described as a crisis of the neoliberal model of globalization. At the same time, neoliberalism is a multifaceted concept that has no universally accepted definition, and disputes about its essence are still relevant. On the one hand, it is considered as a continuation of classical liberalism, on the other hand – as an economic policy of regulating national economic systems.

Rostislav Kapelyushnikov's presentation analyzed the arguments around the very concept of neoliberalism and considered the current problems of its use as a scientific term and as an instrument of ideological struggle.
