On January 17, 2024, President of IMEMO, Academician Alexander Dynkin moderated the annual presentation of the UN report "World Economic Situation and Prospects – 2024", organized by the UN Information Centre in Moscow and the International Union of Economists with the participation of the Free Economic Society of Russia.
Every year in January, on a single day in all world capitals, the United Nations presents its key report – “World Economic Situation and Prospects”, developed by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) in cooperation with the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and five UN regional commissions.
The document contains an in-depth analysis of the current situation in the world economy, short- and medium-term macroeconomic forecasts, recommendations on issues of global socio-economic development, is one of the main analytical reports of the UN and is rightfully considered an authoritative source of analytical data for economists and government officials from around the world.
The presentation was also attended by Vladimir Milovidov, Acting Deputy Director for Scientific Work of IMEMO, Dr. of Science (Economics), who highlighted disinformation among the global risks for the world economic development over the horizon of two years.
