IMEMO RAN presented a brochure titled «Prospects of Engaging India and Pakistan in Nuclear Arms Limitations» prepared according to the schedule of the joint project implemented by IMEMO RAN and the “Nuclear Threat Initiative, Inc.” (NTI).
Participants of the project introduced the principal findings and conclusions of the present stage of the work. The special attention was paid to the threat of the regional arms race in the South Asia which will have a worldwide destabilizing effect. The old time disagreements, the new contradictions and lack of dialogue between Delhi and Islamabad serve as a serious stimulus for enlargement and modernization of nuclear arsenals in the region. The active involvement of the P-5 countries and the international institutions may provide an impulse for engagement of India and Pakistan in the process of nuclear arms limitations.
