Online meeting “Inventory of the Sanctions on the Korean Peninsula”

On April 4, 2022 O.V. Davydov, Senior Fellow at the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies, participated in the first online session "Inventory of Sanctions on the Korean Peninsula" as part of a joint research project of the Center for Energy and Security (CEB) of Russia and Open Nuclear Network.

The goal of the project is to prepare a joint study that will provide an overview of unilateral and multilateral sanctions imposed on the DPRK, their impact on the development of nuclear missile programs, the population and the economy of the country, and what role sanctions should play in resolving the crisis in the region and in ensuring the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The topic of the meeting was a discussion paper prepared by the CES, "The Impact of Sanctions on the Nuclear Missile Program of the DPRK".

More than 20 experts from Russia, the US, China, the Republic of Korea, and the EU took part in the event.

The subject of the next meeting, scheduled for April 11, will be the impact of sanctions on the socio-economic situation in the DPRK.
