New issue of IMEMO journal “Pathways to Peace and Security” (no. 1(50), May 2016) is out of print. It starts with an analysis of the UN reform issues in the context of global governance. Risk theory and forecasting are represented by a study of global risks as a psychological phenomenon and a long-term forecast of trends in terrorism. Regional problems analyzed in broader international or theoretical context include discussion of the legal status of the Artic, the Saudi-Iranian tensions in the Middle East and the role of socio-cultural integration in resolving identity conflicts (in the case of the North Caucasus). The phenomenon and notion of “hybrid war” is analyzed from a military point of view. The humanistic meaning of the Orthodox Christian–Catholic rapprochement is revealed.
