On October 17, the Scientific and Theoretical Seminar “Mix of Scientific Methodology: Outsiders are Allowed (?)” was held at IMEMO. Organizer – IMEMO Joint Department at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The Seminar discussed: how knowledge and methods from related scientific fields are used in conducting research of world politics, international relations, world economy and global development issues. How successfully can “foreign science” be borrowed in the study of international problems? Are there any issues where it is impossible to achieve practically significant research results without a guaranteed exit beyond the existing methodology and conceptual apparatus? How to correctly use the apparatus of other subject areas without distorting one's own research?
