On April 22–23, 2025, the Scientific Conference “100 Days of Lawmaking: Successes and Challenges of the New Donald Trump Administration” was held in a mixed format at Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Georgy Arbatov Institute for the US and Canada Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The first 100 days of Donald Trump's second presidency will end on April 30. Shortly before this date, we propose to summarize the first results of the new administration’s activities in the United States.

The Center for North American Studies of IMEMO and Georgy Arbatov Institute for the US and Canada Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences invited fellow Americanists to participate in a discussion of the most significant steps taken by the Republican administration in the socio-economic and domestic political life of the country, as well as in the international arena and in the sphere of ensuring national security.

Within the framework of the two-day conference, we wanted to analyze and assess what difficulties the American president faces in implementing his new agenda, how his first steps affect the American and global economy, how society, parties, bureaucracy and the rest of the world react to the president's activity, how the balance of power in the federal government is shifting, how the image of the United States on the international arena is changing, and how American priorities with regard to allies and adversaries in various regions of the world are being implemented. And finally, a bit of forecasting: where will Donald Trump's initiatives lead the United States and the world?

The conference was held at the venues:

  • o    IMEMO: 23, Profsoyuznaya Str., Academician Inozemtsev conference hall (3rd floor);
  • o    ISKRAN: 12, Teterinsky Pereulok, building 5, conference hall, (3rd floor).
