234On December 9, 2025, the State Academic University for the Humanities held an International Roundtable “Socio-Humanitarian Knowledge in Scientific and Educational Transfers of Countries of Eurasian Space".
In the framework of the Roundtable section "Socio-Humanitarian Education and National-Cultural Values of Countries of Eurasian Space" Alexey Zenkov, Senior Researcher of the Central Asia Sector of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics), presented a report "Prospects and Limitations of Scientific and Educational Integration in the EAEU".
The author proposed to the participants of the event to examine the problem of knowledge transfer within the Eurasian space in terms of current conditions of scientific and educational interaction within the existing and well-established format of regional economic integration—Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The report presented characterized the general parameters of the professional education systems of the EAEU member states, identified priority areas of interaction in scientific and educational spheres, the dynamics of cooperation, and key changes in recent years.
According to the speaker, Russia is the core of scientific and educational integration within the EAEU: the country concentrates the largest number of scientific and educational organizations, attracts an increasing number of international students, implements a significant number of joint educational programs with EAEU partners, and has (gradually expanding) an extensive network of structural units across the union.
Despite this, the potential for scientific and educational interaction is difficult to realize. To deepen interaction, it is necessary to overcome a number of barriers to integration. Among these, the author highlighted: the incompleteness of the regulatory framework for scientific and educational cooperation within the EAEU; the absence in the current governance structure of the union of an institution responsible for ensuring coordination among member states on matters of scientific and educational interaction; and changes in approaches to education management at the level of national education systems. The prospects for scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and its EAEU partners will largely depend on the state and dynamics of development of cooperative ties between the states of the Union (technological, industrial, commercial). Goal-setting and trust between countries will also be of great importance for integration. The previous export-oriented model for Russian education development corresponded to the general formula of state policy. It could be roughly characterized as the adoption of global rules of the game while preserving state sovereignty. Currently, the components of this formula have changed – "global rules" have given way to civilizational identity. It is precisely this projection of educational integration that Russia is proposing to EAEU countries.
The Roundtable brought together scientists, practitioners, and experts from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Armenia.
The event was organized by the State Academic University for the Humanities and the Information and Analytical Portal "Eurasia.Expert".
