33On April 4, 2024, on the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, the International Roundtable “Azerbaijani-Russian Relations as a Factor of Peace and Stability in the South Caucasus” was held in a mixed format.
In his online report “Peculiarities of Russian-Azerbaijani Strategic Interaction at the Present Stage”, Stanislav Pritchin, Head of the Sector for Central Asia of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History), highlighted the problems of settlement the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, assessed the policy of the collective West, primarily France, in the South Caucasus region as aimed at ousting Russia from the region, which is destructive for its development. He noted the positive nature of Russian-Azerbaijani relations and the importance of their further development in a wide range of directions.
During the Roundtable, representatives of leading higher educational institutions, research institutes, think tanks of Azerbaijan and Russia exchanged views on issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of economy, international relations, development of infrastructure and logistics projects in the context of regional security. A special place in the Roundtable was given to the discussion of issues of socio-cultural interaction, development of academic cooperation between humanitarians of Azerbaijan and Russia.
The event was organized by the Russian House in Baku, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science, the Institute of Eurasian and Interregional Studies of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), the Scientific Council on Complex Problems of Contemporary History and Culture of Eurasia of the Department of History and Philology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Department of History of Near Abroad Countries of the History Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
