International Scientific Conference “Central Europe: 35 Years after the ‘Velvet Revolutions’. Achievements, Challenges, Prospects”

On December 2-13, 2024, the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted the International Scientific Conference “Central Europe: 35 Years after the ‘Velvet Revolutions’. Achievements, Challenges, Prospects”, timed to the 30th anniversary of the scientific project ‘Russia and Central Europe in New Geopolitical Realities’.

On December 12, Maria Pavlova, Senior Researcher of the Center for Strategic Planning Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History), delivered a report “Transformation of Polish Memory Policy in the First Quarter of the 21st Century: the Example of Holocaust Remembrance”. The report examined the key changes in the official narrative about the Holocaust in 2000 – 2024, as well as Poland's influence on the changing European historical consensus regarding World War II.
