International Youth Summer School “Russia and the South Caucasus in the Context of a New Geopolitical Reality”

The International Youth Summer School “Russia and the South Caucasus in the Context of a New Geopolitical Reality” was held in the village of Losevo, Leningrad Region, on July 9-12, 2024.

The event was attended by employees of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO:

  • Eduard Solovyev, Head of the Center, Cand. of Science (Politics), – with the report “International North-South Corridor: Geopolitical Advantages and Economic Risks” in the discussion “Economic Advantages and Geopolitical Risks of South Caucasus Transport Projects”; 
  • Stanislav Pritchin, Head of the Sector for Central Asia of the Center, Cand. of Science (History), with the report (online) “Russian Approaches to the 3+3 Cooperation Format” in the discussion “The 3+3 Format: Diplomatic Mechanisms for Establishing Inclusive Dialogue in the Region”.

More than 30 representatives from Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey took part in the School. The participants had an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss current problems and offer their ideas for improving the situation in the region.

The School ended with a negotiation game, during which the participants, divided into teams, presented the interests of the participating countries in the “3+3” format and discussed current regional issues in the spheres of politics, security, economy and transport logistics.

Organizers of the event: NGO “Center for International and Regional Policy” (the CIRP) in cooperation with the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
