The international conference “The framework for cooperation: Afghanistan is in the center of attention of the states of Central and South Asia” was held in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) on March 4-5, 2022. Senior Researcher for the Section for Central Asia of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of the IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History) Stanislav Pritchin made a report “The CSTO and regional cooperation factor as a response to the security challenges in Central Asia” at the event.
Strategic Council of the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak and Tajik National University organized the event.
The aim of the conference is analysis and discussion of the current situation in Afghanistan and of the prospects for its impact on the states of Central and South Asia.
Representatives of the states of Central Asia, India and Russia took part in the meeting. They discussed the following issues:
1. The political and the ethnic processes in modern Afghanistan;
2. Afghanistan and its place in the politics of the states of the region and the world;
3. The prerequisites for the emergence of the Afghan crisis;
4. Afghanistan and the emergence of the threats and the challenges to the security of Central and South Asia;
5. The integration processes in the region and Afghanistan;
6. The cultural and the social factors in the development of Afghanistan's relations with the states of Central and South Asia;
7. The prospects for the development of the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on the countries of Central and South Asia.
